Police Officer Found Dead with Gunshot Wound in Iloilo Town
ILOILO CITY – Early Wednesday morning, a police officer was found dead with a gunshot wound inside a police station in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo. The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on July 9.
The 36-year-old police staff sergeant’s body was discovered by a fellow officer who had gone up to the rooftop to retrieve his ball cap. Sources said the sergeant was lying on a bamboo bed with a gunshot wound on the right side of his head.
Investigation Details and Findings
Beside the deceased was a Taurus TS9 pistol, a firearm issued by the Philippine National Police (PNP). An empty shell was found approximately two meters away from the body.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident, considering suicide or accidental discharge as possible causes of death. Local officials are working closely to gather more information and clarify the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
