Police Recover 30 Kilos of Shabu in Cavite
LUCENA CITY – In a significant drug bust, police officers recovered 30 kilos of suspected shabu (crystal meth) left along a roadside in Naic town, Cavite, early Friday morning. This early discovery has sparked a thorough investigation into the origins and intended recipients of the illegal drugs.
According to sources, two police officers on mobile patrol along Friendship Road in Barangay Sabang were flagged down at 2:10 a.m. by a security guard. The guard alerted them to a large green suitcase abandoned on a vacant lot beside the road. Upon inspection, the officers found the suitcase contained 30 heat-sealed plastic packs of suspected shabu, collectively weighing around 30 kilos.
Estimated Value and Evidence Found Near Crime Scene
Investigators reported that the confiscated drugs carry a Dangerous Drugs Board estimated value of approximately P204 million. During their examination of the area, police also discovered a surveillance camera mounted on a nearby concrete post, which could provide crucial footage related to the incident.
Authorities suspect that the suitcase was deliberately left or “dead-dropped” at the site, likely awaiting pickup by individuals involved in the illegal drug trade. “Initial assessment of the incident appears that the said suitcase was dead-dropped at said place and believed to be picked up by someone behind the illegal drug activity,” officials said.
Ongoing Investigation to Uncover Drug Network
Police continue to conduct further inquiries to identify those responsible for the shipment and distribution of the seized shabu. The discovery highlights ongoing challenges in combating drug trafficking in the region and reaffirms law enforcement’s commitment to dismantling these criminal operations.
