Police Raid Uncovers Illegal LPG Products Worth P15 Million
Authorities recently confiscated P15-million worth of allegedly illegal liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) products and equipment in Valenzuela City. This significant bust was part of a police operation targeting unlawful LPG activities, officials reported.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) led the raid at a facility located on Santo Rosario Street in Barangay Ugong last Monday. The operation stemmed from a search warrant issued due to suspected violations of Republic Act 11592, also known as the LPG Industry Regulation Act, sources said.
Details of the Confiscated Illegal LPG Products and Equipment
During the raid, authorities seized an unspecified number of LPG cylinders that were allegedly cross-filled illegally. In addition, they confiscated refilling equipment and an empty LPG bullet truck used in the illicit operations, local leaders noted.
Republic Act 11592 strictly prohibits manufacturing, distributing, refilling, or selling LPG cylinders that bear a trademark or trade name without the approval of the trademark owner. This law aims to protect consumers and ensure safety and quality in LPG products, community members explained.
Arrests Made in Connection to Illegal LPG Operations
Five individuals were apprehended during the police operation. The suspects, identified only by their first names—”Julius,” “Tirso,” “Ellieto,” “Leo,” and “Rogan”—are believed to be employees of the LPG refilling station, officials reported.
The crackdown highlights ongoing efforts to enforce the LPG Industry Regulation Act and curb illegal LPG distribution in the region. Authorities continue to investigate and urge the public to report suspicious activities related to LPG products for everyone’s safety.
