Pototan Turns Over Land for Expanded Pambansang Pabahay Program

Pototan Donates Land for Expanded Pambansang Pabahay Program

The local government of Pototan, Iloilo, has officially handed over a 21,684-square meter property in Barangay Batuan to the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC). This donation supports the expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program, the flagship housing initiative championed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. The turnover ceremony took place on June 13 at the SHFC Head Office in Makati City, with SHFC President and CEO Federico Laxa and Pototan Mayor Rafael Enrique Lazaro leading the event.

This donation aligns with Executive Order No. 34, which directs the identification and use of idle government land for housing projects. The property will be developed into the Iwagville Neighborhood Association, Inc., featuring nine five-story buildings designed to house over 1,200 low-income families in Pototan.

Partnership for Inclusive Communities

Mayor Lazaro expressed gratitude towards SHFC, highlighting the importance of the project for his constituents. “On behalf of the people of Pototan, we are thankful to SHFC for the realization of this project as we wanted a decent housing for low-income earners and this project is a welcome and much-needed development for our community,” he said. Meanwhile, SHFC’s Federico Laxa emphasized that the Deed of Donation symbolizes a strong commitment to uplifting lives and fostering inclusive communities.

A tripartite Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between SHFC, the Pototan LGU, and Dynamic Planners and Construction Corp., marking the formal launch of the housing development.

Key Officials and Future Projects

The event was attended by key SHFC officials including Executive Vice President Atty. Junefe Payot, Support Cluster Vice President Atty. Leo Deocampo, VisMin 4PH Vice President Engr. Felman Gilbang, and Treasury Vice President Jason Yap. Also present were Dynamic Planners and Construction Corp. President Carmelo Africa III and Municipal Administrator Atty. Robert Parcon.

Under the expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program, SHFC continues to lead nationwide housing projects. Current developments include Crystal Peak Estates in San Fernando, Pampanga; People’s Ville in Davao City; and Valley View Township in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.

Furthermore, SHFC is reviewing Community Mortgage Program applications and updating guidelines to align with the vision of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling. This expanded program now covers various housing modalities to speed up delivery across the country.
