President Marcos Directs Assistance to Filipinos Amid Immigration Protests
President Marcos has ordered government agencies to provide aid to Filipinos affected by the ongoing immigration protests in Los Angeles, California. The Marcos administration is closely watching the situation, ensuring that Filipinos impacted by these events receive necessary support.
Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro confirmed that the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Philippine Consulate in Los Angeles continue to monitor recent immigration enforcement actions and protests. “Sa ngayon po ang administrasyong Marcos, sa pamamagitan po ng DFA at ng Philippine Consulate sa L.A. patuloy pong mino-monitor ang mga recent immigration enforcement and protest,” Castro said during a briefing on June 10.
Government Assistance for Affected Filipinos
The President has instructed concerned agencies to extend assistance to every Filipino, especially those living or working abroad. “At ang tagubilin po ng Pangulo, bigyan ng assistance ang bawat Pilipino lalung-lalo na po kung sila po ay nakabase o nagtatrabaho sa ibang bansa,” she added. This directive aims to ensure that Filipinos caught in the turmoil receive help promptly.
Reminder to Follow Host Country Laws
Despite the support, the government urges Filipinos overseas to respect and abide by the laws of their host countries. “Pero pinapaalalahanan din po sila na sumunod po sa batas ng bansa kung saan po sila nakatira o nagtatrabaho,” Castro emphasized. The administration stresses responsible behavior amid the protests to avoid further complications.
