President Marcos Inspects NAIA Terminal 3 Improvements
President Marcos personally inspected the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3, highlighting noticeable improvements at the airport. During his visit on Tuesday, June 3, he emphasized the progress made, particularly in facilities catering to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). Marcos shared, “The best way is to go and look for myself. Kaya nandito tayo at tinignan ko at masasabi ko naman na marami na rin, at marami na rin talaga na tayong naging pagbabago, especially again, I’m always concerned dahil sa totoo naman, ang mga tiga-labas, dayuhan, pumupunta rito, business travelers, turista, e mabilis ang kanilang pagdaan sa airport.”
He added, “At kitang kita namin na marami na ang mga pagbabago, and the facilities for the OFW ay gumanda.” This firsthand inspection allowed him to verify reports of enhancements since last year.
Assessing Feedback and New Projects
President Marcos explained that the inspection was prompted by positive feedback received after Christmas regarding airport improvements. “So I’ve also been hearing feedback especially after Christmas na may improvement talaga na nakita dito sa airport and I wanted to see it for myself,” he said.
Furthermore, the visit aimed to evaluate ongoing and future projects to streamline travel flow. Marcos noted, “As you know, we just made an inspection. The reason why is meron kami ina-assess na bago pang project para sa ating airport dito sa Manila para pabilisin ang pagdaloy ng ating mga travelers, both in and out lalong lalo na ang mga OFW.”
Plans for Airport Expansion
The President also revealed intentions to expand NAIA Terminal 3 to accommodate more passengers. “Not only was I able to see it for myself but I also heard from the chairman of NNIC that we are, of all the new continuing plans, that he has to expand the airport so that we are able to handle and process more passengers, more travelers, more tourists,” Marcos shared.
During the inspection, he carefully reviewed the airport’s immigration system to identify areas for improvement. He toured key facilities including the OFW Immigration Annex, OFW Lounge, OFW Rest Area, the Transportation Network Vehicle Services (TNVS) section, and the arrival curbside.
Overall, the President’s visit underscored a commitment to enhancing the airport experience for all travelers, particularly the millions of Filipinos working abroad. Local officials noted the tangible changes and ongoing efforts aimed at making NAIA Terminal 3 more efficient and comfortable.
