The President’s fourth Sona is scheduled for July 28. Officials emphasize that the fourth State of Nation Address will highlight significant achievements and ongoing initiatives.
Ongoing Preparations to Highlight Accomplishments
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro shared during a briefing, in Filipino, “What I was told is that, even until now, preparations are still ongoing, and there is a need to present a better report to the public regarding his projects, achievements, and accomplishments.” Castro added that further details might be shared in the coming weeks.
Last year’s Sona lasted one hour and 17 minutes and set a record as the largest in Philippine history based on confirmed attendees, local leaders noted. This year’s address is expected to maintain its significance as the President reports on his administration’s progress.
Public and Political Engagement Ahead of Sona
While the Palace prepares for the event, other political figures have made decisions regarding their attendance. For instance, it was reported that Sara Duterte’s choice to skip the Sona was entirely her own decision.
