President Marcos Jr.’s Improved Trust and Performance Rating Surges

President Marcos Jr.’s Improved Trust and Performance Rating Rises

Malacañang credits President Marcos Jr.’s improved trust and performance rating to his office’s more effective messaging and heightened visibility. According to sources, this enhanced communication strategy and public presence have helped the president connect better with the people.

“The people can now see better where the president goes and the kind of work he’s really doing,” said Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro in Filipino during a recent briefing. This transparency, officials say, played a key role in boosting the president’s standing in the latest polls.

Survey Shows Notable Increase in Ratings

In a recent Tugon ng Masa poll conducted from July 12 to 17, a respected research group reported that President Marcos Jr. earned a 64 percent trust and performance rating for the second quarter of 2025. This marks a four-point rise from his previous 60 percent rating.

Castro expressed satisfaction with these results, explaining that the president’s increased engagement and clearer messaging contributed significantly to the improvement. “It’s more visible now… because before, the president probably didn’t show it much because he just did his job,” she added.

She also noted, “He’s not very particular about whether the people see it or not.”

Challenges and Comparisons

Castro shared that while low approval ratings can hinder effective governance, it is even more challenging when some officials receive high ratings despite limited accomplishments. The president’s rise in public trust, therefore, stands out as a meaningful achievement.

According to the polling body, President Marcos Jr. holds the highest trust and performance ratings among top officials surveyed for the second quarter of 2025. His ratings surpass those of Vice President Sara Duterte, Senate President Francis Escudero, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

President Marcos Jr.’s Active Engagements

Recently, the president has undertaken several local and international trips aligned with his campaign promises. Early in July, he launched a P20-per-kilo rice program at the Zapote Public Market in Cavite, pledging to maintain this initiative until the end of his term.

In mid-July, he completed a three-day visit to the United States where he met with then-US President Donald Trump. Discussions focused on economic and security matters, resulting in a negotiated 19 percent tariff on Philippine goods entering the US and strengthened maritime security efforts against China.

Looking ahead, the president is set for an official state visit to India from August 4 to 8. Invited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he will discuss trade and defense relations to further fortify bilateral ties.
