Marcos Calls to Put Politics Aside Focus on Nation Building
Following the proclamation of the 12 newly elected senators, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. urged the nation to put politics aside focus on nation building and move forward from the recent midterm elections. In a speech during a media thanksgiving event held by the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas coalition in Mandaluyong City, the President emphasized that the campaign season is over and the country’s attention should return to tackling urgent developmental challenges.
“We all wish we had better results, but we live to fight another day. Now it’s time, I think, to put all the politics aside,” Marcos said. He stressed the importance of focusing on non-political issues such as healthcare, education, agriculture, and food supply, which remain critical to the nation’s progress.
Focus on Developmental Issues for Progress
Marcos highlighted that the real work starts after the elections, urging sustained and clear communication with the public about the administration’s programs. “Let’s let people know that we’re going to continue to work hard now and put the, as I said, politics aside,” he added. The President considers political debates a distraction at this point and called for unity to prioritize nation-building efforts.
He also reminded everyone that time is limited to complete the reforms his administration set out to achieve. “Lagi kong binibilang ang araw na natitira sa term ko at kailangan matapos natin yung mga nasimulan natin,” he said, emphasizing the urgency to finish what has been started.
Media’s Role in Supporting Administration Goals
Marcos requested the continued support of the media in conveying the government’s initiatives to the Filipino people. He expressed confidence that the media will once again effectively help in shaping public understanding and acceptance of the administration’s programs. “I know that, once again, as we did before, you’ll do a very, very good job and make a success of whatever it is that we are trying to do,” he stated.
Although the coalition’s election results were not as strong as expected, Marcos expressed satisfaction with how well the media campaign shaped the public narrative. “The media sector of our campaign was very successful, and I think we were able to put out and occupy the narrative space very, very well,” he said.
He also acknowledged the hard work of his allies behind the scenes, even if their efforts might not always be visible. “Kung minsan hindi nakikita ang inyong trabaho, pero alam namin ‘yan,” Marcos shared. “Pagka meron kaming nakikita in the media… alam namin that you’re clearly working and doing your job.”
The President’s call to put politics aside focus on nation building underscores the administration’s commitment to addressing the country’s development challenges and uniting Filipinos toward common progress.
