Midyear Bonus for Qualified Government Workers Begins May 15
Starting Thursday, May 15, 2025, qualified government workers will receive their midyear bonus, the Department of Budget and Management announced. This bonus equals one month’s basic pay for eligible employees as of that date.
The government has allocated a total of ₱63.695 billion for this purpose. Of this amount, ₱47.587 billion is reserved for civilian personnel, while ₱16.108 billion is set aside for military and uniformed personnel.
Eligibility and Distribution of Midyear Bonus
The budget for the midyear bonus was fully released to relevant agencies and local government units as early as January 2025. According to DBM Budget Circular No. 2017-2, the bonus is granted to personnel who have served at least four months between July 1 of the previous year and May 15 of the current year.
Additionally, recipients must still be in government service on May 15 and have earned a satisfactory performance rating in their most recent appraisal period.
Who Qualifies for the Midyear Bonus?
The midyear bonus applies to all civilian personnel regardless of their employment status—whether regular, casual, contractual, appointive, elective, full-time, or part-time. This includes employees across the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches, Constitutional Commissions, State Universities and Colleges, and government-owned or controlled corporations covered under the Compensation and Position Classification System. Local government units are also included.
Military and Uniformed Personnel Included
Qualified military personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines under the Department of National Defense will receive the bonus as well. Uniformed personnel from agencies such as the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Philippine Coast Guard, and others under various government departments are also covered.
This midyear bonus reflects the government’s commitment to recognizing the service of qualified government workers, both civilian and uniformed, by providing financial support midway through the year.
