Quezon Police Seize Over P2.1 Million Shabu in Arrests
In Quezon province, police anti-narcotics agents have arrested five suspected drug pushers and confiscated more than P2.1 million worth of shabu (crystal meth) in separate buy-bust operations. The recent Quezon police drug busts took place on Monday and Tuesday, marking a significant blow to the local drug trade, sources said.
Col. Romulo Albacea, chief of Quezon police, confirmed that the police drug enforcement unit in Mauban town apprehended two suspects known only as “Rico,” 50, and “Yeyey,” 47. The arrest occurred after the suspects sold shabu worth P500 to an undercover officer in Barangay San Lorenzo at 1:20 a.m. on Monday.
Authorities seized two plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing a combined total of 68.1 grams. Using the Dangerous Drugs Board’s standard price of P6,800 per gram, the confiscated drugs are valued at P463,080. However, the street value of the drugs is estimated at P1,389,240 due to prevailing market prices, local leaders noted.
Drug Enforcement Operations in Lucena City
Meanwhile, in Lucena City, Lt. Col. Dennis de Guzman, city police chief, reported that an anti-illegal drug team led by Captain Benito Nevera arrested a 19-year-old man identified as “Enzo.” The arrest took place at 2:31 a.m. on Tuesday in Barangay Gulang-Gulang during a drug sting operation.
Enzo yielded seven plastic sachets of suspected shabu with a total weight of 30 grams, carrying a street value of approximately P612,000. Earlier on Monday at around 6:30 p.m., the same team also arrested two suspects, “Nikon,” 35, and “Mac,” 35, in Barangay Ilayang Iyam. The pair was found in possession of shabu with an estimated street value of P112,000.
All Suspects Face Charges
All five suspects are reportedly listed on the police drug watch list. They remain in custody and are set to face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, officials confirmed. The Quezon police drug busts highlight ongoing efforts to combat illegal drug trade in the province.
