Quezon Province Drug Haul: Major Arrests and Seizures
LUCENA CITY – Police forces targeting illegal drugs in Quezon province delivered a decisive blow to large-scale drug operations. Officials reported the arrest of two suspected pushers and the seizure of crystal meth and marijuana worth over P3.9 million in Calauag town on Sunday morning, August 31.
This Quezon province drug haul marks the fourth major operation within a week, resulting in confiscated narcotics valued at more than P12 million. Local authorities emphasized their ongoing commitment to dismantle drug syndicates and street-level trafficking.
Details of the Latest Drug Bust in Calauag
Colonel Romulo Albacea, chief of Quezon police, said the provincial drug enforcement unit (PDEU) apprehended two suspects, known locally as “Atoy,” 44, and “Macmac,” 43. The arrest occurred at 9:13 a.m. after the suspects sold shabu worth P1,000 to an undercover officer in Barangay Mabini.
During the operation, officers confiscated one sealed plastic sachet and two knot-tied plastic bags containing a total of 187 grams of suspected methamphetamine. Based on the Dangerous Drugs Board’s standard price of P6,800 per gram, the seized shabu’s official value is P1,271,600. However, at street prices estimated at P20,400 per gram, the haul could be worth as much as P3,814,800.
Authorities also recovered a 250-gram brick of dried marijuana leaves, valued at approximately P90,000 on the street. Additionally, a Rusco multicab believed to be used in illegal activities was seized.
Profiles of the Suspects and Previous Arrests
Officials classified Atoy as a high-value individual (HVI) on the police drug watch list, identifying him as a major trafficker, financier, or syndicate member. Macmac, meanwhile, is listed as a street-level pusher.
Just days earlier, on August 28, the same PDEU team arrested “Mel,” 28, an HVI, in a separate drug sting in Barangay Ibabang Dupay, Lucena City. Officers seized 161 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P3,284,400.
On the same day, local enforcers apprehended “Ken,” 31, and “Melvin,” 29, in a buy-bust inside a subdivision in Barangay Masin Sur, Candelaria town. The suspects yielded 71 grams of suspected shabu valued at P1,448,400. Ken is identified as an HVI, while Melvin operates as a street pusher in the area.
Earlier, on August 24, another HVI was arrested in Mulanay town during a drug sting. The suspect was found with 162.72 grams of suspected methamphetamine, worth P3,380,688 on the street market.
Ongoing Investigations and Police Commitment
Police authorities are actively investigating the source of the drugs sold by these suspects. All arrested individuals remain in police custody and face charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Colonel Albacea vowed, “As long as there are drug syndicates and pushers in Quezon, expect the police to come knocking on their doors — and we will not stop until they are behind bars.”
He urged the community to stay vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement to eradicate the illegal drug menace.
