Quezon Province Drug Traffickers Arrested in Separate Raids
In Quezon province, anti-illegal drug operatives successfully arrested two suspected high-value traffickers during separate buy-bust operations in Lucena City on Wednesday, July 9. Authorities seized methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as “shabu,” valued at nearly P2 million, along with an illegal firearm.
Local sources said the first suspect, identified only as Nelson, 50, was caught at 4:49 p.m. in Barangay Domoit after selling shabu worth P1,000 to an undercover cop. Police found four plastic sachets containing 65 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride. Using the Dangerous Drugs Board’s standard price of P6,800 per gram, the drugs are valued at approximately P442,000. However, street prices could push the value to P1,326,000 at P20,400 per gram.
Nelson is classified as a high-value individual (HVI), a term commonly reserved for traffickers, financiers, or syndicate members. Authorities noted he had prior drug-related arrests, though details about his release remain undisclosed.
Second High-Value Suspect Nabbed with Firearm
Later that evening, at 10:33 p.m., the same police team apprehended Arthur, 31, in Barangay Isabang. Arthur is also considered a high-value individual. Officers recovered one sachet and six plastic bags containing a total of 31 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P632,400.
During a frisk, police discovered an undocumented .45 caliber pistol loaded with six bullets on Arthur. They also confiscated a motorcycle believed to be used in his illegal activities.
Ongoing Investigation and Charges
Authorities continue to investigate the source of the drugs sold by both suspects. Meanwhile, both men remain in custody and will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Arthur will additionally be charged with illegal possession of a firearm.
Local officials emphasized their commitment to dismantling drug syndicates in Quezon province through coordinated operations and intelligence efforts.
