Magnitude 3.9 Quake Shakes Quezon Province
LUCENA CITY — A magnitude 3.9 earthquake rocked the coastal town of San Narciso in Quezon province on the morning of July 7, sources said. The seismic event occurred at 8:47 a.m., shaking the Bondoc Peninsula district.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported the tremor struck 18 kilometers northeast of San Narciso at a depth of 10 kilometers. Despite the quake’s intensity, officials did not anticipate damage or aftershocks.

Instrumental intensities were recorded in neighboring areas. Ragay in Camarines Sur experienced an intensity level of III, while Mercedes in Camarines Norte felt a lighter intensity of I. Local leaders noted that the communities remained calm following the event.
San Narciso faces the Ragay Gulf and lies within the Bondoc Peninsula district, a region known for its coastal landscape and active seismic activity. Residents expressed relief that the earthquake caused no immediate harm.
