Rain Showers Expected Across the Philippines
MANILA, Philippines – Rain showers will affect most parts of the country on Wednesday as the low-pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) interacts with the southwest monsoon, locally known as the “habagat,” sources said. The low-pressure area is prompting widespread wet weather conditions.
Pagasa weather expert Loriedin De La Cruz-Galicia explained that although the LPA currently has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, its close proximity to the country is already impacting the weather significantly.
Areas Under Direct Effect of the Low-Pressure Area
The LPA, last tracked about 550 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon, is forecasted to bring cloudy skies and a high likelihood of rain to several regions. These include Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, the Bicol region, Marinduque, and Romblon.
“Wherever you go today, don’t forget to bring an umbrella because we expect the weather to be rainy brought by the direct effect of the LPA,” De La Cruz-Galicia advised.
Weather Outlook for Metro Manila and Luzon
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will mostly experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of isolated or brief rain showers. Residents should remain prepared for sudden rain spells.
Rain Forecast for Visayas and Mindanao
In the Visayas and Mindanao, rain showers are expected due to the LPA’s influence and the southwest monsoon. Eastern Visayas, especially Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar Province, Leyte, and Biliran, will likely see significant rainfall.
Additionally, the “habagat” will bring rain showers to the Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Tawi-Tawi, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and the Negros Island Region, local leaders noted.
Citizens in these areas are encouraged to stay updated on weather advisories and take necessary precautions to stay safe during the wet weather.
