Red Rainfall Warning Hits Zambales and Bataan
MANILA, Philippines — A red rainfall warning is currently in effect for Zambales and Bataan this Wednesday afternoon, signaling the risk of serious flooding, according to sources. These areas may receive over 30 millimeters of rain within just three hours, prompting urgent safety measures.
Earlier today at 11 a.m., Zambales was already placed under this red rainfall warning. By 2 p.m., Bataan joined the alert, intensifying concerns over heavy downpour and potential floods.
Orange and Yellow Warnings Across Neighboring Provinces
Meanwhile, several nearby provinces are under orange rainfall warnings, expecting between 15 to 30 millimeters of rain in three hours. These include Pampanga, Cavite, and select towns in Tarlac such as San Jose, Capas, and Bamban.
Other areas under the yellow rainfall warning, anticipating 7.5 to 15 millimeters of rain in the same period, include Metro Manila, Bulacan, Batangas, Laguna, Rizal, and other parts of Tarlac including Concepcion, Anao, Tarlac City, and more.
Light to moderate rains with occasional heavy bursts are forecasted to continue over Nueva Ecija and Quezon within the next few hours, potentially affecting daily activities.
Tropical Storm Dante and Tropical Depression Emong Develop
In a separate update, the low-pressure area west of the Babuyan Islands intensified into Tropical Depression Emong early Wednesday morning. As of 10 a.m., Emong was tracked about 115 kilometers west-northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, moving west-southwest at 35 kilometers per hour. It carries maximum winds of 45 kph with gusts up to 55 kph.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Dante formed at 8 a.m. Wednesday, located roughly 900 kilometers east of Northern Luzon. Dante moves north-northwest at 15 kilometers per hour, with maximum winds reaching 65 kph and gusts hitting 80 kph.
Additionally, another low-pressure area outside the Philippine area of responsibility shows a high chance of developing into a tropical depression within 24 hours. It was last observed 2,340 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas.
