Red Rainfall Warning Alerts Metro Manila and Luzon
Metro Manila, Bataan, and several parts of Cavite are now under a red rainfall warning, signaling serious flooding risks in flood-prone areas. This alert comes as the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) forecasts heavy rain in these regions.
According to Pagasa’s 5 a.m. heavy rainfall advisory, the red rainfall warning—indicating more than 30 millimeters of rain expected within the next three hours—is in effect for Metro Manila, Bataan, and specific Cavite towns including Bacoor, Imus, Kawit, Cavite City, Noveleta, Tanza, Rosario, and General Trias.
Orange and Yellow Rainfall Warnings Affect Wider Luzon Areas
Additionally, an orange rainfall warning has been issued for parts of Luzon where 15 to 30 millimeters of rain are expected within three hours. These areas include Zambales, Pampanga, Bulacan, Laguna, Rizal, Batangas, and several other municipalities in Cavite such as Alfonso, Amadeo, and Tagaytay. Authorities warn that flooding remains a threat in these locations.
Meanwhile, a yellow rainfall warning is active in Quezon, Tarlac, and Nueva Ecija, where rainfall of 7.5 to 15 millimeters may occur. Flooding is possible in low-lying or flood-prone zones.
Weather Systems Driving Heavy Rains Across the Country
Weather experts report that two low-pressure areas (LPAs) within the Philippine Area of Responsibility are influencing the current weather. One of these LPAs could develop into a tropical depression by Wednesday, July 23.
The trough of one LPA, combined with the southwest monsoon, continues to bring rain to many parts of the Philippines. Local officials advise residents to stay alert and prepare for possible flooding.
