Red Rainfall Warning Issued in Zambales Amid Heavy Habagat

Red rainfall warning raised in Zambales amid heavy rains

A red rainfall warning has been issued over Zambales on Wednesday, signaling serious flooding risks due to the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, sources said. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) expects the province to receive more than 30 millimeters of rain within the next three hours.

Orange and lighter rainfall warnings in nearby provinces

Alongside Zambales, several nearby areas have been placed under an orange rainfall warning. These locations are forecasted to experience between 15 and 30 millimeters of rain in the same timeframe. The affected areas include Bataan, Pampanga, Metro Manila, Cavite, and parts of Bulacan and Tarlac.

Parts of Bulacan under this warning include Baliuag, Guiguinto, Calumpit, Hagonoy, Paombong, Malolos, Bulakan, Plaridel, Pulilan, and Obando. Meanwhile, Tarlac’s Bamban, Capas, and San Jose also face potential heavy rain.

Meanwhile, some provinces including Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, and various municipalities in Tarlac and Bulacan are expected to receive between 7.5 and 15 millimeters of rain. These areas may experience light to moderate rainfall, sometimes intensifying to heavier showers.

Current weather conditions in Quezon and Nueva Ecija

Pagasa also reported that light to moderate rains with occasional heavy bursts are currently affecting Quezon and Nueva Ecija. These conditions may last for the following three hours, increasing the risk of localized flooding.

Tropical developments: TD Emong and Tropical Storm Dante

In a separate weather update, the low-pressure area west of the Babuyan Islands has intensified into Tropical Depression Emong as of 8 a.m. It was positioned approximately 115 kilometers west-northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, moving west-southwest at 35 kilometers per hour. Emong carries maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour, with gusts reaching 55 kilometers per hour.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Dante has strengthened into a tropical storm category as of 8 a.m. Wednesday. It was located about 900 kilometers east of Northern Luzon, moving north-northwest at 15 kilometers per hour. Dante’s maximum winds hit 65 kilometers per hour, with gusts up to 80 kilometers per hour.

Local officials continue to monitor these weather disturbances closely as they may influence rainfall patterns and flooding risks in affected regions.
