Rey Blanco Passes Away at 50

Rey Blanco, the youngest brother of singer-songwriter Rico Blanco, has passed away at the age of 50. The sad news was confirmed today, May 15, by his daughter Daniela and a close friend through social media. The wake for Rey Blanco is scheduled at Heaven’s Park in Biñan, Laguna, formerly known as Arlington Memorial Park. The burial will follow on Tuesday, May 20, at Everest Hills Memorial Park in Muntinlupa. The funeral mass is set to begin at 1 p.m. at Heaven’s Park.

Mark Escueta, former drummer of the band Rivermaya and a longtime friend of Rico Blanco, also expressed his condolences. On Instagram, he simply wrote, “Paalam, kapatid [folded hands emoji],” bidding farewell to Rey with heartfelt respect.

He shared, “Please pray for King’s strength and healing. Only heaven really knows what’s best for my dear brother but we are keeping our hopes up.” His words conveyed deep concern and hope amidst the struggle.

Rico continued, “I cannot bear to imagine a world without him in it. This is our toughest battle. Please, please help us win.” These words reveal the profound bond they shared and the emotional toll of the illness.
