Rizal Province Celebrates with Cleaning and Greening
On June 11, Rizal Province commemorated its 124th Araw ng Lalawigan with simultaneous cleaning and greening activities across its mountains and waterways. These efforts highlighted the province’s commitment to environmental care and community involvement.
Leading the pro-environment initiatives were Rizal Governor Nina Ricci Ynares, local government officials, and employees from all 14 municipalities. They joined hands with division chiefs and workers to ensure the success of these activities.
Community and Government Unite for Environment
The cleaning and greening activities also saw participation from various government agencies, reinforcing the provincial government’s environmental programs. These include the Ynares to Eco System to Green Program (YES) and Oplan Busilak (Buhayin Sapa, Ilog Lawa at Karagatan), aligning with the national cleaning and greening campaigns.
In Binangonan, local leaders such as Mayor Cesar Ynares and incoming Vice Mayor Russel Ynares encouraged residents, village heads, and volunteers to actively take part in the clean-up and greening efforts within the municipality.
Significance of Araw ng Lalawigan ng Rizal
This annual event honors the founding of Rizal Province on June 11, 1901, by the Philippine Commission. Named after the national hero Dr. Jose Rizal, the province reflects his legacy through these environmental stewardship activities.
Local leaders noted that such activities not only preserve the natural beauty of Rizal but also foster community spirit and environmental responsibility. “Tuloy-tuloy ang laban para sa kalikasan dito sa Rizal,” a local official shared.
