Party-list Representatives France Castro of ACT Teachers and Arlene Brosas of Gabriela paid a visit to Robredo’s hometown ahead of their coalition’s miting-de-avance, exchanging heartfelt wishes for a victorious campaign.
“It was a brief but meaningful meeting,” shared Renato Reyes, campaign manager of the Makabayan coalition. “We appreciate the former Vice President’s genuine support for the Makabayan candidates and current Congress representatives.”
The Makabayan senatorial slate shines with names like Jerome Adonis, Alyn Andamo, Ronnel Arambulo, Teddy Casino, Mimi Doringo, Mody Floranda, Amirah Lidasan, Liza Maza, and Danilo Ramos, each eager to bring change to the nation.
In a surprising twist, former Senator and boxing legend Manny Pacquiao also dropped by Robredo’s hometown of Naga City last week. Though vying for a Senate comeback under the administration slate, Pacquiao’s gesture revealed a side rarely seen—a kindness beyond the ring and politics.
Robredo shared a touching story about their unexpected encounter during the 2022 presidential race in Cebu. When she confided about her lack of a bulletproof vehicle, Pacquiao didn’t hesitate to offer his for her safety. “Magkalaban na kami niyan, pero tinutulungan niya pa rin ako, tulong pa rin siya nang tulong,” she said, her words echoing a rare camaraderie amid rivalry. “His kindness is real. Let us welcome Senator Pacquiao.”
