Rockslides Block Key Roads in Kalinga
Heavy rains triggered by the southwest monsoon enhanced by Tropical Storm “Isang” caused significant rockslides along the Lubuagan-Batong Buhay national road in Sitio Colong, Barangay Lower Uma, Lubuagan, Kalinga, officials reported on Saturday, August 23. Large limestone rocks fell from the mountainside, completely blocking the thoroughfare.
Authorities from the Department of Public Works and Highways-Lower Kalinga Engineering District Office warned motorists to avoid crossing the area while clearing operations are underway. Unfortunately, no alternate routes are accessible in this section, leaving travelers stranded.

Community members noted that the heavy downpour not only disrupted travel but also raised concerns about further landslides and flooding in the area.
