San Juan City Earns Certificate of Recognition Early
San Juan City proudly received the Certificate of Recognition from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on June 19. The event took place at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City during the Regional Peace and Order Council-National Capital Region’s 2nd Full Council Meeting. This honor reflects the city’s decisive efforts in combating illegal drugs.
The certificate was formally handed to San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora by PDEA-NCR Regional Director Emerson Rosales. The ceremony also featured Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla. This recognition underscores the city’s unwavering commitment to anti-drug initiatives and community safety.
Validation by Oversight Committee Secures Recognition
The award followed a thorough review by the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing. This committee includes members from PDEA, DILG, the Philippine National Police, and the Department of Health. San Juan achieved a significant milestone by reaching 100% drug-cleared status in all its barangays as early as 2023.
This accomplishment was a critical prerequisite for the city’s recognition under more rigorous and comprehensive standards. Local leaders noted that this achievement reflects the effective collaboration among various agencies and the community.
Mayor Zamora Commends Collective Effort
Mayor Zamora expressed deep gratitude to the oversight committee, the San Juan Police, barangay officials, the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council, department heads, and the residents of San Juan. He highlighted that this recognition marks a key point, but the fight against illegal drugs will continue relentlessly.
He stressed the city’s commitment to ongoing enforcement, community-based rehabilitation, and preventive education programs to sustain the gains made. “Hindi dito nagtatapos ang laban,” he said, emphasizing the continuous nature of their efforts.
San Juan Leads with Lowest Crime Volume
San Juan City not only leads the National Capital Region in drug-clearing efforts but also boasts the lowest crime rate across Metro Manila. This dual achievement positions the city as a model for peace and order initiatives.
The local government remains focused on maintaining a safe environment for its residents through strategic programs and community engagement. The recognition serves both as an encouragement and a responsibility to uphold these standards.
