San Juan City’s Wattah Wattah Festival Attracts Thousands
The San Juan City government proudly announced the successful completion of the annual Wattah Wattah Festival, which this year attracted an estimated 10,000 participants, according to local officials and police reports.
After addressing concerns from last year’s event, the 2025 festival was conducted with enhanced security measures and stricter compliance with City Ordinance No. 14, S. 2025. These efforts ensured a safer and more organized celebration while preserving the festival’s vibrant spirit.
Mayor Zamora Celebrates Festival’s Success
Mayor Francis Zamora personally supervised preparations and expressed his satisfaction with the turnout and conduct of the festivities. He praised the cooperation shown by residents and visitors, as well as the quick response and coordination of emergency and security teams.
“I am thankful to my beloved San Juaneños because our call for them to come here to the Basaan Zone was truly heeded. At first, it was very difficult to bring about change because we had gotten used to the old ways over the past decades. That’s why we explained to our citizens the importance of holding the basaan right here,” the mayor said.
Discipline and Safety Mark This Year’s Celebration
Thanks to the collective effort of the community and city officials, as of 2:00 PM on the event day, no incidents of passersby being drenched without consent were reported—a significant improvement from previous years. Mayor Zamora commended everyone involved for making the celebration festive yet orderly.
“I’m proud of how our citizens, guests, and city departments came together to ensure a festive yet disciplined celebration,” he declared.
Looking Ahead: Post-Event Review Planned
The city government is now preparing a thorough post-event assessment to improve safety protocols and overall experience for future Wattah Wattah Festivals. This ongoing commitment aims to maintain the festival’s cultural significance while prioritizing public welfare.
