San Juan Mayor Secures Second Term as MMC President

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora has secured a second term as president of the Metro Manila Council (MMC), reinforcing his leadership among the region’s local government units. Zamora was the only nominee and was reelected by acclamation during the MMC’s joint meeting with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) held at Camp Crame last Friday.

The position of MMC president is reserved for senior or third-term mayors among the 17 local government units of the National Capital Region (NCR). Zamora, having been reelected as San Juan mayor for his third term in May, fits this criterion and continues to lead the council in shaping policies for Metro Manila.

Zamora’s Continued Leadership in Metro Manila

First elected as MMC president in November 2022, Zamora assumed the role after other third-term NCR mayors waived their eligibility. His reappointment signals confidence in his ability to steer the council’s policy-making efforts, which directly impact Metro Manila’s governance and development.

Local leaders noted that the MMC functions as the policy-making body of the MMDA, playing a crucial role in coordinating initiatives across the region. Zamora’s leadership thus remains central to regional cooperation and progress.
