VP Sara Duterte Attends DOJ Preliminary Investigation
Vice President Sara Duterte personally appeared at the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday. She attended the preliminary investigation regarding her alleged kill remarks directed at President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and other officials.
Duterte arrived at the DOJ around 2 p.m. for the hearing. The complaint under review involves charges of inciting to sedition and grave threats. These were filed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
Controversial Statement Sparks Probe
During an online press briefing earlier this year, Duterte said she ordered a hit on Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta, and Speaker Martin Romualdez. She claimed this was if a supposed plot against her succeeded.
However, she later clarified that her words were not a direct threat. Instead, she said she was pointing out a threat to her own security. Duterte added that her statement was “maliciously taken out of logical context.”
