Senate comeback bids gain momentum in Naga City

NAGA City — Former Vice President and Naga mayoral candidate Leni Robredo is going full throttle in supporting the Senate comeback bids of former senators Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan and Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV. She emphasized that both candidates are trustworthy and genuine public servants, particularly in her hometown.

Robredo shared that her endorsement of Pangilinan and Aquino comes from firsthand experience working alongside them during her 2016 and 2022 national campaigns.

“Senator Kiko was my vice president when I ran for president in 2022. We all know how steadfast he is. Senator Bam was my campaign manager when I ran for vice president and president, which made our campaigns successful. I am deeply thankful to both of them,” Robredo said.

Senate comeback bids rooted in trust and integrity

Robredo is confident that voters in Naga are discerning, not easily swayed by money, and will choose candidates like Pangilinan and Aquino who have proven their dedication.

“In Naga, we’ve seen many elections pass by. We have shown the nation that our voters cannot be bought. Just because a candidate is wealthy doesn’t guarantee a win,” she said.

“People vote for what is right. Voters in Naga think carefully and always use their voice to support good governance,” she added.

Trustworthiness at the heart of Senate comeback bids

Senator Pangilinan emphasized that honesty remains his core value, whether as a husband, father, or public servant.

“When I courted my wife Sharon, I faced many competitors. But I won because I promised I wouldn’t hurt or disappoint her. Public servants must do the same,” he said.

“When entrusted with responsibility, one must stay true and honest, not abusive. As a husband, father, and public servant, I promise to fight for you,” Pangilinan added.

Aquino also acknowledged that their 2025 campaign might lack resources but remains rich in trust and faith.

“As Mrs. Robredo said, don’t lose hope. In 2025, we have only trust — trust in God and trust in the people,” Aquino stated.

Support extends beyond candidates

ML party-list first nominee Leila de Lima expressed confidence that those who fight for what is right will eventually win despite challenges.

“Sometimes it feels like we’re hitting a hard rock. But as long as we stand and keep fighting, that rock will break. Every vote counts. Let’s not choose traitors who are pro-China,” she urged.

“With your support, we will win. Kiko and Bam will win, An Bagong Team Naga will win, and ML will win,” de Lima added.

Allies unite for Naga’s progress

Before the miting de avance, Robredo met with former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, one of President Marcos Jr.’s Senate candidates, whom she also endorsed.

“Secretary Abalos has always helped our city. Our team, An Bagong Team Naga, supports him because we know he’ll assist us more once in the Senate,” Robredo said in a video message.

“He understands our problems deeply. During our darkest times, he stood by us to help,” she added.

Robredo expressed hope as Abalos has already started seeking ways to aid Naga.

Abalos responded warmly, saying, “Thank you, Ma’am. I truly appreciate it.”

Robredo’s endorsements include four Senate bets: Pangilinan, Aquino, Abalos, and Manny Pacquiao, all aiming to make a strong comeback in 2025.
