Senate President Condemns Assault in Boracay Vacation Incident

Senate President Speaks Out on Boracay Assault Incident

Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada has strongly condemned the recent assault involving his family members during their vacation in Boracay. Upon hearing the distressing news, Estrada wasted no time and immediately flew to the island in Aklan province to check on his son and nephew.

The senator expressed deep concern over the incident, stating, “It’s unfortunate that my son Julian and his cousin Jefferelly Vitug had their vacation in Boracay marred by an act of violence. Early Saturday, they were assaulted by three young men.” He added, “Bilang ama at tiyuhin, hindi maiiwasan na labis akong mag-alala nang makarating sa akin ang masamang balita. Kaya’t dali-dali akong pumunta para alamin ang nangyari at kalagayan nila.”

The senator emphasized that no parent or relative would want to hear about such senseless violence occurring in what should be a peaceful and welcoming community. The attack, which disrupted a family vacation, highlights concerns over safety in popular tourist spots.

Details of the Assault and Ongoing Investigation

Reports indicate that Estrada’s son Julian was leaving a bar and heading toward a mini-mall near Boracay’s front beach when three men approached him. One of the assailants reportedly began beating Julian and threw him to the ground, while the other two also joined in the assault.

Although authorities have not publicly released the victim’s name, Julian shared a message on his social media account about the incident. He wrote, “To everyone expecting to see me at Epic tonight, I won’t be able to make it. Got caught in a really unfortunate situation last night and need time to recover, both physically and mentally appreciate all your understanding and support. See you soon.”

Calls for Justice and Safer Environment

Estrada confirmed that charges have been filed against the suspects involved. He remains confident that the authorities will conduct a thorough investigation and ensure justice is served. “My family and I are grateful that our loved ones are safe now, but we hope incidents like this serve as a reminder of the need to create a safer environment for everyone,” he said.

This incident underlines the importance of strengthening security measures in tourist destinations like Boracay. Community leaders and local officials are being urged to work closely with law enforcement to protect residents and visitors alike.
