Senate Prepares to Tackle Impeachment Case Against Sara Duterte

The Senate is set to tackle the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte this Wednesday afternoon. This move comes following the Supreme Court’s July 25 ruling that declared the impeachment process unconstitutional. Despite the ruling, proponents remain determined to pursue the trial, keeping the issue alive in the political arena.

Vice President Sara Duterte remains actively engaged with her office’s programs, according to the Office of the Vice President (OVP). Although she has been abroad for several weeks, OVP spokesperson Ruth Castelo emphasized that Duterte continues to oversee key initiatives remotely. Her recent trips included visits to the Netherlands, Malaysia, Australia, and South Korea from May through July.

Uncertainty Surrounds Vice President’s Whereabouts Amid Impeachment

Interestingly, Duterte’s own office appeared unaware of her current location when questioned during a press briefing. When asked about her whereabouts, especially with the Senate impeachment court set to discuss her case, OVP spokesperson Ruth Castelo could not specify where the Vice President was at that moment. This added to the intrigue surrounding the ongoing impeachment proceedings.
