Senator Bong Go Denies Ties to Joint Venture Flood Control Projects

Senator Bong Go firmly denied any involvement in the joint venture projects between CLTG Builders and the Discaya family. The senator made this clear during the recent Senate blue ribbon committee hearing, emphasizing his detachment from his family’s business operations.

During the hearing, contractor Sarah Discaya acknowledged that they had previously entered into a joint venture with CLTG Builders, a company owned by Senator Go’s father. However, when asked if the project concerned flood control, Discaya admitted she could not recall the specifics.

Senator Offers Accountability Despite Family Links

Senator Go stressed his commitment to transparency, stating that if any irregularities or deficiencies are found in the joint venture project, he would be the first to recommend legal action against the parties involved, even if it implicated his own family.

“Not all infrastructure projects are anomalous. Any country needs infrastructure in order to prosper, just do it in the right way. What’s wrong is that the project has failed and if we’re funding ghost projects,” the senator said in Filipino, underscoring the importance of integrity in government contracts.

He reiterated, “For the nth time, I have nothing to do with the business of my family. I don’t have anything to do with their business, I have no involvement in its operations.”

Discaya’s Ownership of Multiple Government-Linked Companies Revealed

Despite initially claiming divestment from several firms, Sarah Discaya later admitted to owning nine companies that have secured numerous government contracts. These firms have been active in various infrastructure projects, including flood control, roads, and building construction, particularly in remote areas.

The companies she owns include:

  • Alpha & Omega Gen. Contractor & Development Corporation
  • St. Timothy Construction Corporation
  • St. Gerrard Construction General Contractor & Development Corporation
  • Elite General Contractor & Development Corporation
  • St. Matthew General Contractor & Development Corporation
  • Great Pacific Builders & General Contractor Inc.
  • YPR General Contractor and Construction Supply Inc.
  • Amethyst Horizon Builders and General Contractor & Dev’t Corporation
  • Way Maker General Contractor

Extensive Government Projects From 2022 to 2025

Between 2022 and 2025, Discaya reported handling approximately 400 projects with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). These projects spanned flood control measures, road construction, and building developments, mainly targeting the country’s less accessible regions.

Community members and officials noted the significance of such projects in addressing infrastructure needs in remote areas, yet emphasized the necessity for transparency and proper management to avoid anomalies.
