Senator Bong Go Commits to Quality Medical Services and Public Welfare
Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, who ranked first in the 2025 senatorial race, has pledged to pursue legislative measures that will improve the lives of Filipinos. Central to his platform is the commitment to bring quality medical services closer to the people. This promise was a highlight early in his speech during the proclamation ceremony on May 17.
He dedicated his victory to former President Rodrigo Duterte, describing him as a mentor who urged him to prioritize the nation’s and people’s interests above all else. “Health is wealth. We must work together to bring quality medical services closer to our people, particularly the poor and indigent patients,” Go emphasized.
Expanding Access to Education and Youth Empowerment
The senator recognized the significant role of young voters in the recent elections and vowed that he and his colleagues will continue championing the youth’s cause. He stressed the importance of investing in education by expanding the law that promotes universal access to tertiary education, which was initially signed by former President Duterte. This would allow students to choose from a wider array of programs while benefiting from free education.
“As an advocate of sports, we should also further advance course development in the country, especially in the grassroots, so that aspiring young athletes can be given the opportunity to improve their skills and hopefully, eventually, produce more Olympic medalists who will bring honor to our country,” Go added.
Job Creation, Food Security, and Public Safety
Beyond education and health, Go promised to push for legislation that fosters job creation and livelihood support. He highlighted the critical need to strengthen food security, ensuring every Filipino family has enough to eat. “Importante po sa akin ang laman ng tiyan ng mga kababayan natin, lalong lalo na po ang mahihirap,” he said, underscoring his concern for the vulnerable.
Additionally, Go committed to continuing the fight against criminality, illegal drugs, and corruption to build a more peaceful society. “Mahahalaga pong nakakalad sa gabi ang ating mga kababayan na walang takot,” he remarked, emphasizing the importance of safety at night for all citizens.
Vision for a Caring Society
Go believes that the true measure of a society’s success lies in how it treats its people. As he begins another six-year term, he called on everyone to work together to fulfill this vision. “As such, starting today, let us now buckle down to work,” he urged.
He hopes to be remembered not just as a senator but as a public servant who always puts the welfare of the Filipino people first, especially the poor and the less fortunate.
