Promoting Filipino-Made Products at IFEX 2025
Senator Mark Villar reaffirmed his support for Filipino-made products and local businesses during the 18th International Food Exhibit (IFEX) Philippines 2025. This major trade show celebrates the diversity and creativity of the country’s food sector. Over three days, IFEX gathered producers, entrepreneurs, and innovators nationwide to present a wide variety of local goods, ranging from fresh fruits and regional specialties to innovative food products designed for international markets.
“It is amazing to witness and support an event that highlights our Filipino heritage and exhibits the ingenuity and innovation of Filipinos,” the senator remarked at the event’s opening ceremony. He attended alongside officials from the Department of Trade and Industry, emphasizing the importance of showcasing Filipino talent.
Highlighting Regional Products and Local Innovation
During his visit, Senator Villar toured several booths featuring products from different regions. He stressed the importance of providing provinces with platforms to promote their unique offerings to a broader audience. “Nakakatuwang makita na halos lahat ng mga region sa ating bansa ay mayroong exhibit dito sa IFEX na nagpapakita ng kanilang mga produkto,” he added, expressing his admiration for the wide regional participation.
As the author of the One Town, One Product (OTOP) Philippines Act, passed in 2023, Villar has been a strong advocate for empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), especially in rural areas. The law supports local businesses by providing them with resources and opportunities to grow.
Impact of One Town, One Product and IFEX on MSMEs
Through initiatives like OTOP and events such as IFEX, Filipino products are gaining greater visibility both locally and internationally. This exposure helps businesses thrive and encourages innovation across the food industry.
“I am honored to be part of an event like IFEX 2025; it is truly exciting to explore and engage with various innovators and exhibitors from various regions in the Philippines,” Villar said. His ongoing presence at these events highlights his commitment to inclusive economic growth and strengthening the country’s local industries.
Community leaders and local experts note that platforms like IFEX play a vital role in boosting the livelihoods of many Filipino entrepreneurs by connecting them with potential buyers and partners from around the world.
