Seven Arrested for Stealing Cars in Bulacan
Authorities in San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan, arrested seven suspects for stealing cars and selling their parts, police sources said. The Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) recovered five vehicles during the operation last Saturday, June 28, 2025.
PNP HPG spokesperson Lt. Nadame Malang shared details of the entrapment conducted in San Jose del Monte, adding that the arrest followed a report from a rental car owner. The complainant informed police that two of their rental units were stolen and could no longer be tracked through their GPS devices.
How the Stolen Cars Were Traced
Investigation revealed that parts from the stolen vehicles were being sold online. “The complainant checked Facebook Marketplace and found some car parts posted for sale,” Malang noted. This discovery helped authorities track down the suspects involved.
The stolen car parts were sold discreetly to avoid detection. Police reported prices ranging from PHP 10,000 to PHP 15,000 for car doors and PHP 5,000 to PHP 7,000 for headlights. “That’s their method to hide and discreetly dispose of the car. Of course, if the vehicle is big and the criminals sell it, that will be noticed,” Malang explained.
Recovered Vehicles and Ongoing Search
During the crackdown, police recovered five vehicles. However, one car remains missing and is believed to have been fully dismantled and sold. The suspects claimed they were “just following orders,” but police continue to investigate the stolen units and those responsible.
Authorities are also pursuing buyers of the stolen car parts to file charges under the Anti-Fencing Law. Malang admitted this task is challenging due to the numerous components involved in a single vehicle.
Legal Actions and Custody
The suspects are now in custody of the Central Luzon Regional Highway Patrol Unit and face charges under Republic Act 10883, also known as the Anti-Carnapping Act. Meanwhile, efforts continue to locate the individuals who stole the two rental cars.
