Severe Tropical Storm Crising and the southwest monsoon have caused significant devastation across the Philippines. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), five people lost their lives while seven remain missing as a result of the severe weather.
Three fatalities were reported in Northern Mindanao, while one each occurred in the Davao and Caraga regions. The seven missing individuals include three from Western Visayas, three from Metro Manila, and one from Mimaropa.
Widespread Damage and Evacuations Reported
The storm’s impact has affected 800,864 individuals or 225,985 families nationwide. Of those affected, 20,115 individuals from 5,921 families are currently taking refuge in 319 evacuation centers. Authorities have recorded five injuries linked to the inclement weather.
Infrastructure damage is estimated at ₱219.3 million, with the Ilocos Region suffering the most severe losses amounting to ₱166.5 million. In total, 1,234 houses were damaged; 935 partially and 299 completely destroyed.
Ongoing Challenges and Weather Updates
As of the latest report, there is no available data on agricultural damage. Meanwhile, hundreds of passengers remain stranded at various ports across the country, according to the Philippine Coast Guard.
