Severe Tropical Storm Crising Triggers Orange Rainfall Warning

Orange Rainfall Warning Issued over Metro Manila

Severe Tropical Storm Crising has prompted the Philippine weather authorities to raise an orange rainfall warning over Metro Manila and seven other key areas this Saturday afternoon, July 19. The storm, coupled with the southwest monsoon or habagat, is expected to bring heavy rains that could cause significant flooding.

The orange rainfall warning signals that affected regions may receive 15 to 30 millimeters of rain within the next three hours, posing a threat of hazardous flooding.

Areas Under Orange Rainfall Warning

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration–National Capital Region (Pagasa-NCR) identified the following locations under the orange rainfall warning:

  • Entire Metro Manila region
  • Central Luzon provinces: Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, and Bulacan
  • Parts of Calabarzon

Yellow Rainfall Warning in Neighboring Areas

Meanwhile, some areas in Central Luzon and Calabarzon were placed under a yellow rainfall warning. This means these locations can expect between 7.5 to 15 millimeters of rainfall within three hours, which may lead to flooding in low-lying or vulnerable zones.

“Meanwhile, light to moderate with occasional heavy rains [are] affecting Quezon, which may persist within three hours,” Pagasa-NCR reported.

Storm Update: Crising Moves Out of Philippine Waters

Severe Tropical Storm Crising intensified before exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday morning, according to the latest bulletin from the weather bureau. The storm carried maximum sustained winds reaching 100 kilometers per hour, with gusts up to 125 kph, and was moving west-northwest at 15 kph.

At its last observation, Crising was located about 235 kilometers west of Itbayat, Batanes, confirming its departure from the PAR.

Residents in affected areas are advised to stay alert and monitor updates as the combined effects of Crising and the habagat continue to influence weather conditions.
