Shabu Worth P550,000 Seized in Lucena City
LUCENA CITY — Police successfully arrested two suspected street-level drug pushers and confiscated shabu worth more than P550,000 during a buy-bust operation on Tuesday night, June 24, in Lucena City. The seizure highlights ongoing efforts to curb illegal drug trade in the area.
Lieutenant Colonel Dennis de Guzman, Lucena City police chief, shared that officers led by Captain Benito Nevera, head of the local drug enforcement unit, apprehended “AJ,” 23, and “Kim,” 35, shortly after they sold shabu valued at P1,000 to an undercover operative in Barangay Cotta at 10:50 p.m.
The suspects were found carrying four plastic sachets containing shabu inside a sling bag. Authorities estimated the total amount of 27 grams of shabu to be worth P550,800 in the street market, based on the current price of P20,400 per gram.
Investigation and Charges
Police are continuing to investigate the source of the illegal drugs. Both “AJ” and “Kim” are listed as street-level pushers under police watch. They were detained and face charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
