PNP Headquarters Vehicle Inspection Uncovers Violations
At the Philippine National Police headquarters in Quezon City, a surprise vehicle inspection revealed several traffic violations among police officers. The Philippine National Police conducted the inspection to enforce compliance with traffic regulations, officials reported.
During the operation, six police officers received citation tickets for various infractions, sources said. The Highway Patrol Group (HPG) led the inspection, focusing on adherence to the Land Transportation and Traffic Code of the Philippines.
Common Violations Include Missing OR/CR and Improper Insignias
HPG spokesperson Lt. Nadame Malamang detailed the violations discovered during the inspection. “We issued citation tickets against the six we caught; the HPG ticketed all of them,” he said. Many officers failed to present official receipts (OR) or certificates of registration (CR) for their vehicles.
“Most of those ticketed were not carrying an OR. Some were caught without a CR, and at times we removed the logo and other insignias that cannot be placed on private vehicles, especially motorcycles,” Malamang added. These improper insignias violate regulations governing official police vehicle markings.
Inspection Covers Hundreds of Vehicles at PNP Headquarters
The surprise inspection covered over 500 motorcycles and more than 300 vehicles within the PNP compound, community members noted. Most violations involved failure to carry the required OR/CR documents or having delinquent vehicle registrations.
This initiative was a collaborative effort between the HPG and other PNP units to ensure strict compliance with Republic Act No. 4136, the Land Transportation and Traffic Code. The authorities emphasized the importance of upholding traffic laws, even within police ranks.
Authorities Reinforce Commitment to Traffic Law Enforcement
Local leaders highlighted that the inspection demonstrates the PNP’s dedication to setting an example in obeying traffic rules. Such enforcement actions aim to promote discipline and accountability among law enforcement personnel.
By addressing these violations proactively, the PNP hopes to maintain public trust and ensure that all vehicles, official or private, meet legal standards. The operation serves as a reminder that no one is exempt from traffic regulations.
