Sky Garden Project Set to Boost Tourism and Employment in Pangasinan
President Marcos led the groundbreaking ceremony for the Sky Garden Project in Alaminos City, Pangasinan, a development expected to enhance tourism and create more job opportunities in the province. The Sky Garden Project will provide visitors with breathtaking panoramic views of the famous Hundred Islands National Park and the surrounding natural scenery.
The president emphasized the project’s role in driving local progress and opening new avenues for both tourism and employment. He remarked, “Hangarin natin na maghatid ang Sky Garden ng sigla at magbigay-daan para sa mas maraming bisita at trabaho para sa mga taga-rito.”
The Importance of Tourism in Rural Development
Tourism plays a vital role in uplifting rural communities, said the president. It supports various sectors, including farmers, fishermen, souvenir vendors, hotels, and transportation services. “Napakahalaga ng turismo sa kaunlaran ng mga kanayunan. Nasusuportahan nito ang ating mga magsasaka, ating mangingisda, mga nagtitinda ng pasalubong, kasama ang mga hotel, at transportasyon,” he added.
Pangasinan has long been a favorite summer destination, largely because of the Hundred Islands National Park. The Sky Garden Project will add another attraction that draws more visitors and strengthens the local economy.
Collaboration and Funding for the Sky Garden
The president praised the people and officials of Pangasinan for their initiative in bringing this project to life. He highlighted that the Sky Garden is a joint effort involving the Department of Tourism (DOT), the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), and the Alaminos city government.
With funding amounting to PhP249.8 million from TIEZA, the Sky Garden Project aims for completion by March 15, 2026. This initiative symbolizes pride, progress, and an inclusive public space for all Filipinos.
