Snake Caught at Villamor Air Base Raises Alert
Early Monday morning, a snake caught at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City stirred concern just hours before President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. made his pre-departure statement for his state visit to India. The reptile was found in a grassy area within the airbase premises.
The snake caught at Villamor Air Base turned out to be non-venomous. An Air Force personnel safely secured the snake by placing it inside a sack. Unfortunately, the handler was bitten during the capture but immediately received proper medical treatment.
Officials Assure Public Safety After Snake Incident
In a brief interview, Philippine Air Force chief Arthur Cordura reassured the public that the incident was not alarming. “It’s not a cause for concern and we guarantee that we keep watch,” he told reporters.
Addressing questions about the snake’s origin, Cordura explained, “It might be incidental na malaki na siya, it might have penetrated somewhere. The area is very porous.” He noted that this was not the first time a snake had been discovered inside the airbase.
