Solo Leveling Triumphs at 9th Crunchyroll Anime Awards

The Korean animation Solo Leveling won the Anime of the Year award at the 9th Crunchyroll Anime Awards, held recently in Tokyo, Japan. This event celebrates the creators, musicians, and performers who fuel the global passion for anime. During the ceremony, the iconic series Attack on Titan received the first-ever Global Impact Award. These included Anime of the Year, Best New Series, Best Anime Ending Sequence, Best Action Anime, Best Main Character, Best Anime Score, and Best Voice Artist Performances in English, Brazilian Portuguese, and Castilian Spanish.

In his acceptance speech, the director of Solo Leveling expressed heartfelt gratitude: “Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart for voting (for) us for this award. We were able to receive this award because of the crew (who) poured their heart and soul into the project, and the fans who then watched it.”

Kakao Entertainment’s head of the Story Business Unit commented on the historic achievement, emphasizing the significance of Solo Leveling’s global recognition. The company remains committed to discovering more captivating stories that can follow in the footsteps of this groundbreaking series.

The awards ceremony was hosted by voice actress Sally Amaki and entertainer Jon Kabira, both returning for their third consecutive year. Presenters included a diverse group of celebrities from around the world, including Grammy winners, actors from popular TV series, musicians, athletes, and renowned Japanese talents.

Fans enjoyed performances by top artists, such as the hip-hop duo Creepy Nuts, rock band Flow celebrating a 20-year anime anniversary, and LiSA, a highly streamed Japanese artist. The event also featured special video-on-demand performances, adding to the excitement.

With an impressive total of 51 million votes cast by fans worldwide, the 2025 Anime Awards showcased the strong connection between anime and its global audience.
