Surigao del Sur Representative Johnny Pimentel has urgently called on the Philippine National Police (PNP) to leave no stone unturned in recovering the P200 million ransom paid by the family of kidnapped businessman Anson Que. Que was tragically murdered by his captors after the ransom was handed over.
Pimentel demanded the full deployment of resources and investigative measures to trace the money. He emphasized the need to hold those responsible accountable and ensure the stolen funds are returned.
He warned that failing to recover the ransom would only embolden criminal syndicates, perpetuating a vicious cycle of violence and exploitation.
“Crime should not pay. Our government must send a clear and unwavering message that justice will relentlessly pursue those who threaten public safety,” Pimentel declared.
The congressman also underscored the importance of returning the ransom to Que’s grieving family. This gesture, he said, would bring a measure of relief amid their profound loss.
In a grim discovery on April 10, authorities confirmed that the bodies of Anson Que and his driver, Armanie Pabillo, were found in Rodriguez, Rizal.
The PNP is working with the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) and other agencies to track down the cryptocurrency transactions used by the kidnappers, made in multiple parts.
Among those tagged by the PNP as masterminds behind the abduction and murder are David Tan Liao, Kelly Tan Lim, and another suspect still unnamed. The hunt for justice continues.
