Senator’s Relatives Assaulted in Boracay
ILOILO CITY – The son and nephew of a prominent senator were involved in a violent incident on the world-famous Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan province. The son, Julian Ejercito, and his cousin, Jefferelly Vitug, were reportedly attacked late Saturday night, May 24.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the incident happened around 2 a.m. in Barangay Balabag. Julian and Jefferelly had just left a bar and were walking toward a mini-mall near the front beach when three men suddenly confronted them. Without any clear provocation, the suspects allegedly assaulted both men, resulting in injuries to their heads and faces.
Julian shared updates about the attack on his Instagram story, expressing his regret for missing an event at a popular bar in Station 2. He wrote, “To everyone expecting to see me at Epic tonight, I won’t be able to make it.” He further explained, “Got caught in a really unfortunate situation last night and need time to recover, both physically and mentally appreciate all your understanding and support. See you soon.”
Police Response and Charges Filed
Following the incident, the senator personally visited Boracay to discuss the matter with local authorities. However, the Malay Municipal Police Station declined to provide detailed information, citing privacy concerns.
Despite this, the police chief confirmed that formal charges of physical injuries have been filed against the three suspects involved. “We filed against three suspects and not two suspects,” said the local police chief in a phone interview on Sunday, May 25.
The community remains concerned about safety in the area, especially after this high-profile case involving the senator’s family. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack as they work to hold those responsible accountable.
