Son Helps Police Arrest Man Stealing Computer Motherboard
A man was arrested after his own son turned him in for stealing a computer motherboard from a shop in Barangay Maly, San Mateo, Rizal on June 1. This four-word keyphrase “stealing computer motherboard” describes the crime caught on CCTV footage the previous day.
The video showed the suspect quietly taking the computer part and putting it inside his blue backpack before leaving the store. Witnesses said the man initially used one of the shop’s computers but waited until most customers left before committing the theft.
Multiple Thefts Recorded on CCTV
The shop owner’s mother revealed the stolen motherboard is worth P11,000. She also shared that the man had a history of theft, previously stealing merchandise valued at around P40,000 from the same shop. Nearby computer store cameras captured the suspect selling some of these stolen items.
After the victim and his mother reported the theft to barangay officials, the suspect was located. However, he managed to escape while talking with the victims. This led the victims to post the CCTV footage on social media, hoping to catch him.
Son’s Report Leads to Arrest
Upon seeing the video online, the suspect’s son reported his father’s location to the police. Authorities then arrested the man at his home in Montalban, Rizal. During the arrest, the suspect refused to comment on the allegations.
He is now detained at the San Mateo Municipal Police Station and faces charges of theft. Local leaders noted that this case highlights the role of community cooperation in fighting crime.
