In South Cotabato, a 28-year-old vlogger was arrested Saturday morning for cyber libel charges, local authorities said. The arrest took place in Koronadal City, where the suspect, known as TG or Thailand Girl, resides.
A joint operation between police units from Koronadal and Davao City led to the arrest of Jeren Jude N. Bacas at his home in Barangay Morales at 11:56 a.m. This arrest highlights the ongoing enforcement of cyber libel laws in the region.
Details of the Cyber Libel Charges
Bacas faces charges under the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, specifically Republic Act 10175. His case is registered as Criminal Case No. R-DVO-25-02683. The warrant for his arrest was issued by Judge Clarissa Superable of the Regional Trial Court Branch 52 in Davao City on May 20.
The court recommended a bail bond of ₱48,000. However, Bacas remained in the custody of Koronadal police pending the court’s final commitment order. Authorities confirmed that Bacas was informed of his constitutional rights immediately after the arrest.
