South Luzon Expressway San Pedro Northbound Entry-Exit Interchange Now Open
Motorists traveling from San Pedro, Laguna to Metro Manila can now save up to 45 minutes thanks to the newly opened South Luzon Expressway San Pedro Northbound Entry-Exit Interchange. Officially opened on August 1, this new route offers a faster and more convenient option for daily commuters.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) reported that the new South Luzon Expressway San Pedro Northbound Entry-Exit Interchange eliminates the need for motorists to take the longer detour through the Southwoods northbound exit in Laguna. As a result, thousands of drivers will experience shorter travel times and less traffic congestion.
Improving Commute and Traffic Flow
Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon emphasized the project’s goal to improve convenience for travelers and ease heavy traffic. “The president is focusing on the convenience of our motorists. That’s why this Build Better More. This is the whole point of it—to make the lives of commuters and motorists easier,” he said.
The new interchange is expected to benefit between 5,000 and 10,000 motorists daily, providing a significant boost to traffic management along this busy corridor.
Project Details and Collaboration
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) shared that the South Luzon Expressway San Pedro Northbound Entry-Exit Interchange was developed through multi-year contracts starting in 2018. It was implemented by the regional office in Calabarzon together with the Laguna 2nd District Engineering Office.
With a project cost of approximately P915 million, this interchange stands as a testament to effective collaboration among government agencies, private partners, and local communities. Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan highlighted this unity, stating, “This project stands as a clear example of what we can achieve when we work together—government, private sector and communities united under a shared goal.”
Ceremonial Opening and Local Support
Both Secretary Dizon and Secretary Bonoan led the inauguration ceremony in San Pedro, Laguna. The event was also attended by other key officials, including the Toll Regulatory Board’s Executive Director and local government representatives. Their attendance underscores the importance of this infrastructure in supporting regional development and easing daily commutes.
This new interchange marks a significant improvement in the South Luzon Expressway network, offering motorists a more efficient travel option and reinforcing the government’s commitment to Build Better More.
