Southwest Monsoon to Affect June 12 Weather
The southwest monsoon will bring rain and gusty winds across several regions on Thursday, June 12. This weather pattern, known locally as the habagat, could disrupt Independence Day celebrations, local officials noted. Occasional monsoon rains will impact provinces such as Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Palawan, and Occidental Mindoro.
Meanwhile, most areas in Luzon and the western part of Visayas will see mostly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions, with localized rain showers or thunderstorms mostly during the afternoon or evening.
Wind and Sea Conditions Expected
Moderate to strong southwesterly to southerly winds will prevail over Luzon and Western Visayas, leading to moderate to rough seas. Gusty winds are also expected in Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, the Bicol Region, Isabela, Aurora, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Quezon, Antique, and Aklan.
In other parts of the country, light to moderate winds coming from the southeast will prevail, with seas ranging from slight to moderate. These conditions call for caution among fishermen and those planning to travel by sea.
Tropical Depression Outside Philippine Area
The weather bureau also reported that a tropical depression is currently monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. It is moving north-northwest and is not expected to directly affect the country during the forecast period.
