Southwest Monsoon Triggers Rainy Friday
Metro Manila and various parts of the country are set to experience rain this Friday due to the southwest monsoon, officials reported. The four-word keyphrase southwest monsoon brings rainy accurately reflects the weather conditions expected to affect the region.
According to the state weather bureau, cloudy skies with a high likelihood of rainfall will dominate Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. “It is still possible that we will have a period where these rains will be visible, but generally throughout the day or any time of day, the chance of rain, lightning and thunder will still be very high,” a weather specialist explained.
Flood and Landslide Precautions Advised
Community leaders advised residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions against flooding and landslides. “That’s why our fellow countrymen should still take extra precautions against the threat of flooding and landslides,” the expert added, emphasizing the potential hazards brought by the southwest monsoon.
Weather Outlook for Other Regions
The southwest monsoon is also forecast to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over Palawan. Meanwhile, the Visayas and Mindanao regions will experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions, with isolated or sudden rains especially in Eastern Visayas due to the combined effects of the monsoon and localized thunderstorms, officials noted.
Monitoring of Potential Low-Pressure Area
Currently, no tropical cyclones or low-pressure areas are being monitored within or near the Philippine area of responsibility. However, meteorological experts reported cloud clusters over western Northern Luzon that may develop into a low-pressure area within the next few hours.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated and prepared as the southwest monsoon brings rainy conditions across many parts of the country.
