Southwest Monsoon Brings Scattered Rains Forecast Nationwide
Metro Manila and several other regions across the Philippines are expected to experience scattered rains Sunday as the southwest monsoon continues to influence the weather, officials reported. This four-word keyphrase, “scattered rains forecast,” appears early in the report as the main weather alert affecting many areas.
According to weather experts, the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, will bring cloudy skies accompanied by scattered rains to Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Oriental Mindoro. A meteorological specialist shared these updates based on the latest forecast issued Saturday evening.
Weather Outlook for Luzon
Aside from the areas with scattered rains forecast, the rest of Luzon is anticipated to have generally fair weather. However, there is a significant chance of localized thunderstorms developing in the afternoon and evening, local authorities noted. Residents in these regions are advised to remain cautious, especially during the late hours.
Meanwhile, Palawan is also set to experience cloudy conditions with possible scattered rains and thunderstorms, all influenced by the persistent habagat. Community members in these areas are preparing for potential weather disturbances throughout the day.
Visayas and Mindanao Weather Conditions
In Visayas and Mindanao, partly cloudy to cloudy skies will prevail, with a high probability of isolated or localized thunderstorms from afternoon to evening, officials reported. The southwest monsoon’s effect extends across these regions, bringing variable weather patterns that may impact daily activities.
Monitoring Low-Pressure Area Outside Philippine Territory
The meteorological agency is closely watching a low-pressure area located approximately 805 kilometers west of Iba, Zambales, outside the Philippine area of responsibility. Although this low-pressure system currently has a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone, its trough is already influencing the weather in Northern and Central Luzon, sources said.
Residents are urged to stay updated on weather developments and heed any advisories issued by local authorities as the habagat continues to affect the country’s weather conditions.
