Southwest Monsoon Rains Continue Across Philippines Monday
MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon rains will persist in parts of the Philippines this Monday, local weather authorities confirmed Sunday. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the habagat remains active and will continue to bring wet weather to several regions.
Weather specialist Veronica Torres explained that the southwest monsoon rains are currently affecting the country. She added that while no tropical cyclones or low-pressure areas are being tracked, cloud clusters are forming over eastern Mindanao.
Weather Outlook for Luzon and Palawan
Torres noted, in Filipino, that western parts of Central and Southern Luzon may expect cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. “The western portion of the Central and Southern Luzon may experience cloudy skies and scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms,” she explained during the 5 p.m. forecast.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and other areas in Luzon can look forward to generally fair weather, though some localized thunderstorms may develop amid partly cloudy to cloudy skies. Palawan is also forecast to receive light to moderate rains on Monday.
Visayas and Mindanao Weather Conditions
The southwest monsoon rains will continue to affect Western Visayas, the Zamboanga Peninsula, and the Bangsamoro region. These areas should prepare for ongoing wet conditions.
For the rest of Visayas and Mindanao, residents can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of localized thunderstorms. Torres emphasized that no gale warnings have been issued for any of the country’s coastlines.
