Storm Surge Warnings Hit Four Northern Luzon Areas
Authorities have issued storm surge warnings in four Northern Luzon areas as Tropical Storm Crising, known internationally as Wipha, approaches. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) alerted residents about a minimal to moderate risk of storm surges reaching one to two meters high in the coming 24 hours.

Pagasa warned that high waves triggered by the storm surge could threaten coastal communities. Residents are advised to exercise caution and heed evacuation orders if necessary.
Local officials have been urged to suspend all marine activities in the affected zones. Additionally, residents living in low-lying coastal areas are encouraged to move to higher ground to avoid the dangers posed by storm surges.
Tropical Storm Crising’s Current Status and Path
Tropical Storm Crising was last tracked about 100 kilometers northeast of Aparri, Cagayan. It carries maximum sustained winds of 75 kph, with gusts reaching 90 kph. The storm moves north-northwest at 20 kph.
At present, ten areas in Luzon remain under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2, while another ten are under Signal No. 1. The storm is forecast to make landfall over the Babuyan Islands on Friday night and is expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility by Saturday morning or afternoon.
